Competitive Advantage

The best-known and best-regarded Japanese channel in Taiwan, leading the field in viewer ratings and advertising revenues. Videoland Japan enjoys a fixed audience consisting mostly of the highest elements in a market segment that appeals to many advertisers.

Videoland Japan was the first channel in Taiwan cable television to successfully tap into this segmented market. It is the unquestioned leader among dedicated Japanese channels, playing a key part in inspiring a craze for Japanese culture among the people of Taiwan.

Videoland Japan has worked with Japan's major television stations and program providers including Fuji TV, TBS, Asahi, Japan TV, Tokyo TV, Yomiuri TV and NHK. Videoland Japan has offered exclusive broadcasts of Japanese idol dramas such as "Great Teacher Onizuka", "Crying Love at the Center of the World", "Hyaku-nen Monogatari", "Golden Bowling Alley", "Flowing Queen" and "Tennis Sweethearts ". The channel has cooperated with Fuji TV since 2001 to provide popular series like ¡§White Tower¡¨, ¡§Pride¡¨, ¡§Hero¡¨, ¡§Daiwa Golden Girl¡¨, ¡§Love Revolution¡¨, ¡§Beauty or Beast¡¨ and ¡§GTO¡¨. These series have generated a great deal of interest in Japanese drama and culture while making stars in Taiwan of Kimura Takuya, Matsushima Nanako, Karasawa Toshiaki, Fujiki Naohito, Matsu Takako and other Japanese actors.

The channel boasts a number of long-running entertainment programs such as "Dueling Chefs", a program which has introduced many viewers to fine Japanese cuisine. Other outstanding programs like "TV Champions", "Fiery-Match-up", ¡§Life Magic¡¨, ¡§London Hearts¡¨ and ¡§31-leg Race for 30 Students¡¨ have issued a challenge to local program producers to improve the quality of their shows. In addition, the popular "All-Star Red-White Singing Contest" and "Music Station Super Live" bring the latest Japanese music to fans throughout Taiwan, further solidifying Videoland Japan's position as the best Japanese viewing in Taiwan's cable TV market.

Videoland Japan will continue to offer more outstanding television programs from Japan in the future to encourage cultural and entertainment events and exchanges between Taiwan and Japan as part of a more multi-faceted approach to programming.
